The House of Sai Jinhua

Our last stop in the Huang Shan area was the house of a famous woman in China called Sai Jinhua. She has been called "China's most famous prostitute." She was married twice and also became the lover of a German general. In 1900, she persuaded this German general to sign a peace treaty when the Eight-Nation Alliance entered Beijing, saving the city. We were taking here because part of her house had been converted into a restaurant and we were meeting some of Andi's father's "government officials" for dinner here. While we waited, we took a tour of her house.

Outside of the house is a map of the entire property carved in marble.

One of the entrances into one of the many gardens. I have found that this style of round door was quite popular here in China.

The garden paths weave throughout the entire house.

Most of the house was a museum with pictures and literature about her. However, this outside area was so relaxing and beautifully designed.

The view from a room designated for drinking tea only.

That is the tea room. When she was alive, she could take the little boat and float around the outer parts of her garden.
